HOW TO VOTE ON THE REFERENDUM

The February 27th election will have a local referendum (proposition 292) regarding the zoning of the former Poel Blueberry Farm, which was the result of our petition drive this fall. As you recall, the Planning Commission recommended to the Board of Trustees a R-2 zoning on the Poel’s 97 acre farm, which would have allowed up to 352 homes to be built. The Board of Trustees instead passed the rezoning to be R-1, allowing up to 281 homes. Eastbrook/P5 sued the Township, and a settlement was agreed to that no more than 195 homes would be built.

On February 27, we ask that you VOTE NO to accepting the R-1 zoning which the Township originally approved.

By voting no, the zoning of the property will revert to the original AG (agricultural) zoning, allowing up to *48 homes.

While this will not override the Eastbrook/P5 settlement, it will put the Board on notice regarding the future building of large developments in Spring Lake Township and reduce the chances of Eastbrook/P5 getting R-1 or R-2 zoning if they acquire property adjacent to this development.

VOTE NO ON 292 ON FEBRUARY 27th!
